Module 1, “How ‘Healthy’ is Your Soil?” looks firstly (in unit 1.1) at the properties of a healthy soil (its friability, water and nutrient storage, its resistance to erosion and its freedom from pests and disease. 

 

Unit 1.2 then  outlines how different soil types are classified and described through the soils colour and texture in each  profile. 

The concluding unit 1.3, examines water and wind erosion and the ways in which each decreases the soil's productive potential.
